Science to better understand the marine environment
We are excited to announce that our PhD Candidate, Michelle VanCompernolle, has just received a Robson & Robertson Award! This award will help further Michelle's PhD progress and expand her professional network through participating at an upcoming international conference.
Our group leader Dr Ana Sequeira has been announced as a finalist in the West Australian Premier's Science Awards! These awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding scientific research and engagement taking place in Western Australia.
We are pleased to announced that Dr Ana Sequeira received the Early Career Award at the 7th conference of the International Biologging Society, for having "pioneered the development of global distribution models for marine megafauna species. She was a key plyer in bringing together a long collaborative group of scientists to share their biologging data and to identify global threats that affect these animals. Dr Sequeira has also worked to provide guidance for how we can minimise impact on animals while still making sure the sample sizes are statistically significant for research".
We are excited to report that Charlotte Birkmanis has been awarded the 2020 Student International Travel Scholarship from the Australian Society of Fish Biology. This merit-based scholarship supports a researcher to present their work at an international conference.
